Until the last beat

Posted on: October 5th, 2017 by Mbenson

Our September 2nd bride writes to Yelp:  “Michael Benson Band was the absolute BEST WEDDING band I have ever seen.  He was so incredibly responsive and committed to making our reception perfect.  I cannot recommend the band highly enough.  Our reception went 20 minutes over because everyone couldn’t stop dancing, and they were there until the last beat”

Ten stars if I could, on Yelp

Posted on: July 19th, 2017 by Mbenson

Gerrie writes on July 18, 2017:

“A wedding reception is really made by the talent and energy provided by the musicians. My wedding was everything I dreamed of and more because of Michael Benson and his fantastic band. The year leading up, they were communicative, accommodating, and were even willing to learn new songs for our first dance and father/daughter dance. At the reception, they interacted with our guests, engaged from the stage, and ultimately rocked the house with their amazing covers. This was one of the best investments made for our wedding. I would give ten stars if I could.”  (the latest of 11 reviews that Yelp does not want to recommend)

Warmth and dignity

Posted on: May 30th, 2017 by Mbenson

Just a quick note to say how very much I appreciate your graciousness & amazing professionalism.  You guys are THE BEST!  I’ve worked with a few bands at weddings lately and not only do you guys blow them out of the water musically, you just carry yourselves with a warmth and dignity they are sorely lacking. So much ego & attitude & they have nothing to back it up. So thank  you guys for being AWESOME & I hope to get to work together lots in 2017!  (Shana Tinsley, 321 Foto https://321foto.com)

To the next level

The Michael Benson Band is amazing. They are so professional and great at what they do. If you are deciding between a band and a DJ, go with a band – and go with Michael Benson. It brought our guests’ whole wedding experience to the next level. MBB did our ceremony piano music, dinner background music, and reception/dance music. I wouldn’t change a thing! By far the best wedding band in Seattle.

Why.We.Don’t.Do.That.

“Do you plan set lists in advance?” No way. Planning band set-lists ahead of time for moods and crowds you haven’t even felt or seen yet?  Nope. That’s a sure-fire recipe for disaster.  At social event performances I can’t see why anyone would do that – and  Why.We.Don’t.Do.That.Ever.  Instead, I free-flow sets dynamically, calling songs moment by moment for optimal crowd connection.  Result: Non-stop seamless segues and total success. Every time.

Blowing Your Own Horn

You know things are going right for your wedding ceremony, when JUST as your bridal entry music is to start, the Washington State Ferry Captain blows his horn for you to commence walking.  This happened.  I was at the piano dropping fingers to begin when suddenly, HOOOONK!

My MC vs. his

I attended a wedding in L.A. with a d.j. and got to sample his emcee style. Why is it so many d.j’s use the “game show host” voice?  I’m just sayin – it’s gotta be classy, not schtick. I do my emcee work respectfully and with style.  Folks are pleased. No game show hosts on my gigs.
