Our service covers all the unique elements of wedding celebrations: the ceremony, the cocktail/social hour, the dinner hour, the emcee announcements and toasts, and of course, the dancing. The music begins at the ceremony and continues through to the unforgettable climax.
The Michael Benson Band first set the standard for a dj-styled non-stop flow of live hits. Their 80-minute sets sizzle with seamless, hard-count song segues that never drop a beat, leaving folks with a jaw-dropping “how can they do all this” reaction. The relentless mix of 60,’s 70s, 80’s, 90’s current pop tunes, rap and hip-hop (even big band when called for) compels crowds to party on until the house burns down.
Here’s what we offer for you:
FULL BAND (6 PIECE – Sounds like 10 piece)
Our most complete full-repertoire presentation. Female lead vocal w/ percussion, male lead vocal, 3-part backing vocals, 2 keyboards, 2 guitars (lead and rhythm, bass guitar, drums, saxophones (tenor and soprano) plus EWI (electronic wind instrument). With doubled keyboard/synths Michael covers brass sections, strings etc. as well as his lead vocals. 2 guitars validate a true rock ‘n roll band vibe, ie Stones, Beatles, ACDC, Aerosmith. With his EWI our sax man delivers a legit trumpet section sound. This 6-piece ensemble has all the power and punch of horn-band plus the rock-band grit of a 10-piece band.
QUINTET (5 PIECE – Sounds like 9 piece)
All the musical power of the FULL BAND, minus female lead vocals, and some of her songs.
QUARTET (4 PIECE)
Keyboards and male lead vocals, bass, drums, and either lead guitar or sax. An option for slightly smaller events or when budgeting is a factor. For Saturday events, our preference is work as a quintet minimum, but feel free to inquire.
TRIO (3 PIECE)
Keyboards, male lead vocals, bass and drums. A nice choice for an intimate, lower key event.
WEDDING CEREMONY SOLIST
Piano/keyboard (including male vocals), OR, solo acoustic guitar. A female vocalist can also be added. References for outside string quartets are provided upon request.
Following the wedding ceremony, guests typically enjoy one to 1.5 hours of social hour with cocktails and apps. For this we offer several configurations of background listening music in jazzy, eclectic, and popular styles.
Soloist: pianist w/vocals, or guitarist
Duo: pianist w/vocals and sax, or guitarist with sax
Trio: pianist w/vocals, or guitar with bass, drums
Typically the full band or a smaller portion of it helps guests enjoy dinner in an intimate supper club vibe with elegant background music from the Sinatra Big Band Era, played sensitively to allow for easy table conversation. Imagine a New York dinner jazz club setting. Classy.
Another option is to have the ceremony or cocktail hour covered with pre-recorded music via an mp3 player and sound system. We provide the AV gear and programming for this.
BAND BREAK SETS
Whenever the band breaks, whether during dinner or dancing, an mp3 mix plays seamlessly at the same level and vibe as the band has established. During dinner this will be soft and elegant and between party sets it will be full-on dance hits, and these can be custom-loaded with all the clients’ favorite tunes. From start to finish our customers get everything they wish for – either live or pre-recorded. The music continues throughout.
Making any and all announcements throughout the event is a natural part of our work. This is done graciously and professionally. We view ourselves as partners with event planners and venue staff. Our goal is for everyone to succeed in creating a sensational experience for our clients.
